Greek Week 2016 Educational Speaker

It was an honor to serve as the University of Iowa Greek Week educational presenter in April. The theme was “Professionalism, Networking and Preparing for your Dream Job.” More than 100 students in the Greek system turned out, and several highly-motivated students stayed late to ask individual questions following the hour-long presentation.

Key concepts covered included internships, informational interviews, networking (don’t overlook the handwritten thank-you notes!), and my personal five keys to success: 1) Arrive early, 2) Stay late, 3) Always exceed expectations, 4) Pay excruciating attention to detail, 5) Always be positive.

Later that week, I served as a judge during the Greek Week Follies. The talent level of some of the performers during Follies was quite impressive, which made final selections challenging for me and my fellow judges.

All of the Greek traditions I was exposed to this year were new to me since I wasn’t in a fraternity in college, but I had an absolute blast! Thank you to the Iowa Greek community…I was Greek for a week, and I loved it!
