University of Iowa Presidential Committee on Athletics
This week I began a five-year term of service on the University of Iowa Presidential Committee on Athletics with the first meeting of the year. The PCA is an advisory committee for the University President and the Director of Athletics on policies governing the Athletics Department. It’s a committee that I’ve been eager to serve on for quite some time because of my background in athletics administration and strong interest in supporting and sustaining the intercollegiate athletics model.
The first meeting included a tour of several athletics facilities. Iowa’s investment in upgrading its facilities for the benefit of student-athletes, coaches, staff and spectators in recent years has been impressive. Multiple facilities provide shared space with Recreational Services and benefit the entire campus community. The indoor track is receiving a significant upgrade that will make it one of the fastest in the country, and the golf practice facility makes it possible for the men’s and women’s teams to practice under realistic conditions throughout the cold Iowa winters.
It’s an honor to join the PCA, and I look forward to serving the University for the next several years in this capacity.
