Congratulations to Jody and Rachel!

One of my favorite things about teaching is when students graduate and become my colleagues in the sport industry and friends in my personal life. There are so many former students that I count among my friends after five years of teaching, but I recently experienced a first when two of my favorite former students were married. Rachel (Warford) and Jody Henton were married in the Bahamas and held a local reception in Des Moines for family and friends. Rachel was a student in the very first class I taught at Iowa in the fall of 2011. I distinctly recall Rachel introducing me to her boyfriend, Jody, during a field trip that I led in 2012. Through the Sport Management field trips that I led to Indianapolis, Rachel and Jody came to love the great sports atmosphere in the city of Indianapolis and decided to settle down there after graduation. Rachel is now the Sports Coordinator for the Hamilton County Sports Authority, and Jody is the Premium Seating and Ticket Sales Coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts. My friendship with Rachel and Jody has continued to flourish ever since that first year of teaching, and I can’t begin to express how proud I was to celebrate their marriage at the reception.
